This whole Neo Hinduism hocus pocus is what I call a classical category error. The problem with all these problems stems from trying to fit Indic Darshanas into the Abrahamic paradigm. Another reason why I don't call myself an atheist. It is a category error.
The natural evolution of Darshanas in India & their interaction over the centuries is very different from the evolution of Abrahamic faiths. But the global academic orthodoxy uses their terminologies. We have to explain our Darshanas using our terms & only one lens (evolutionary)
The moment you unclutter your mind with this epistemic problem you see things clearly. It's just creating a switch in your brain. When you discuss Abrahamic religions you use their methods and when you use your Darshanas you use your terms.
Yes we can study commonalities between all memeplexes (religions) using a common evolutionary lens. But, when we analyse them as they are we have to go by the version of their practitioners. Here we use the Taleb #skininthegame feature. Listen to what their scholar says.
You don't need to become a relativist for this. No need for post modern mumbo jumbo. You can simply use the Darshanic framework by listening to the Darshanic people & then criticise them using objective moral standards. I know many modern Hindu scholars don't do it.
What they do they start correctly by identifying the category error. But then they wrap themselves into a wide world of booga booga claiming oh we're different. Well you're homo sapiens too, so beyond a point you're as subject to evolutionary principles as Abrahamism.
This is a very fine and thin line to walk on. One has to be very careful. Relativism is very seductive because you can use it & justify all sorts or BS in your memeplex. And I've seen many modern day Hindu scholars & semi scholarly types use it to peddle booga booga.
And the same mistake is made by western atheists and their wannabes in India. They also make category errors. This is because they also don't know how to make the epistemic flip. It takes equal amount of reading of both the western & eastern paradigms.
I experience these problems when I discuss Hinduism with western atheists and when I discuss problems within Darshanas with Indians. It is just impossible for them to look at it from an evolutionary psychology lens mixed with the #skininthegame requirement.
Also, if you're an Ex Hindu don't bother reading this thread. You're too stupid to understand what I'm saying 😈😈😈 (I had to ruin this thread).
