Ok, time for a run-through of the latest MYE drop from the FBI Vault this past Friday - Part 36 of 36. I know others have already reviewed and put out their thoughts as well, so you may see some overlap. But hopefully something new also comes out of it. vault.fbi.gov/hillary-r.-cli…
I will reference each Serial in the following format: "MYE" - Subfile - Serial# - [1A# (if necessary)]. If you need a quick refresher on how FBI files are organized, here's a recap:
First up, we have MYE-302-39-1A34. So that's the 302 subfile (which is the form on which FBI interviews are later recorded), followed by Serial 39, followed by the attachment for Serial 39 (1A34). It's the notes and accompanying files of the interview of an unknown DoS employee.
It is pages 2-25 of the Vault file. It includes Bates numbers 1217-1238, and 1257-1258. According to Page 1 of the file, there were 26 pages that were not released at all. These are Bates numbers 1239-1256 and 1259-1266. Always good to keep in mind what we aren't being shown.
Usually lining up dates and corresponding information in the notes with previously released 302s allows us to match up the notes with the typed up 302. Thankfully this previously released 302 included the Serial number at the bottom (not all of them do). drive.google.com/file/d/1S_HM-d…
We get a little bit of background on Pagliano's ethics clearance, related to his financial disclosure. There's an email asking him for more information than what was on his initial form. Unclear exactly what needed to be updated.
Next we have MYE-302-40-1A35. It's only 3 pages (pp. 26-28). It is Bates numbers 1267-1269. This one could be good...
Here is the previously released 302. Note that it did not have a Serial number at the bottom. With these notes, I was able to determine which 302 it related to, and update my own files accordingly.
But this interview is actually of another well known character - Victoria Nuland. She was the State Department spokesperson for a few years during HRC's tenure. This was before she moved over to be Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs during Spygate.
Here is a link to that 302 - drive.google.com/file/d/1LFd3xn…
This is interesting. In the handwritten notes, we have a redaction about the FOIA Nuland was involved in. It is NOT "Clinton's emails," which is what the final typed 302 seems to imply.
Seems to include the UK as well. Will have to do some digging on that front later.
Moving on, we have MYE-302-41-1A36. It is another unknown DoS employee. It is 6 pages (29-34). It is Bates numbers 1270-1275. Here is a link to the individual serial - drive.google.com/file/d/1OKn-nW…
Here is a link to the accompanying Serial 302-41 - drive.google.com/file/d/1LmU1Tk…
This one is fairly interesting just for background on how communications are handled when our folks go overseas. Nothing too wild that specifically relates to MYE, or at least that caught my eye. Looks like some confidential/secret matters related to comm security (possibly).
We have made it to MYE-302-42-1A37. These are notes of Pat Kennedy's interview, the Under Secretary of State for Management. It is 8 pages (pp. 35-42), Bates 1276-1283. Link to individual file - drive.google.com/file/d/1qZ_TNY…
Link to the actual 302 - drive.google.com/file/d/13kOE06…
The notetaker makes it very clear that they warn him this is voluntary. Kennedy was part of the "quid pro quo" fiasco when he asked the FBI to change a classification on an email. That was in early 2015; this is mid-December 2015.
These are likely Catherine Duval and Austin Evers, two attorneys with potential conflicts-of-interest that were very involved with the State review of emails during the initial FOIA process. Many DoS employees stated they thought the 2 attys were letting bias affect their work.
MYE-302-44-1A38. It is 4 pages (pp. 43-46), Bates 1284-1287. We are not given the interviewee's name, but I am fairly confident it is Tom Lawrence, an IT official in DoS at the time. Link to the individual file: drive.google.com/file/d/1S_qDxw…
And here is the 302-44 Serial - drive.google.com/file/d/1T838-D…
This likely popped out to some folks - something redacted is "In Kiev." I think when reading next to the 302, it's a person (not a server or anything like that).
Obviously, no way to know for sure, so this is just a guess. But after some searching on who was part of the Bureau Security Office in 2009 (HRC tenure) and Kiev in 2015, it appears this guy fits the bill.
Ironically, I only came across him because he wrote an open letter resigning from the State Department on January 19, 2017. Doesn't seem like a guy that wouldn't let bias get in the way of his duties, so I guess it's good he resigned. afsa.org/with-deep-regr…
Seems there is a lot of extra info unredacted in the 302 (which was released ages ago) than in the notes we just received. Strange.
MYE-302-45-1A39. Redacted, but this is Philippe Reines. 22 pages (pp. 47-68), Bates 1288-1309. Link to file - drive.google.com/file/d/1pUNyG8…
Link to the actual 302-45 Serial - drive.google.com/file/d/1eayyE6…
A lot of these redactions are unredacted in the DoS Virtual Reading Room - foia.state.gov/search/search.…
"Computer screen on 3rd"?
MYE-302-47-1A40. 5 pages (pp. 69-73), Bates 1310-1314. "Letter and receipt of property (FD-597) from evidence collection from WilmerHale" drive.google.com/file/d/1PNp8Cz…
Here is the actual Serial 302-47: drive.google.com/file/d/1POla84…
Here's the 1st page of the cover letter. Note it's addressed to the DOJ (email), but it was collected by an FBI agent. WilmerHale (specifically Aaron Zebley) represented Justin Cooper during the investigation. Zebley followed his boss, Robert Mueller, to the Special Counsel team
2nd page. Interesting that they excluded turning over one email chain to Williams & Connolly. Here's an email from that same date, is that the one discussed? I'd be interested in learning more about what was happening between W&C and WilmerHale.
WilmerHale is still representing Cooper, at least as of March 2019, when he was deposed by Judicial Watch. And on page 92 of the deposition transcript, he states that the Clintons paid most/all of his legal fees. judicialwatch.org/wp-content/upl…
Unfortunately this is as far as I go this evening. There are a few more serials in this drop that I hope to analyze in the next day or so. Until then I look forward to hearing what others find in this release.
MYE-302-48-1A41. Notes from interview with Colin Powell. It is 6 pages (pp. 74-79). Bates 1315-1320. Link: drive.google.com/file/d/16z70ty….
Link to Powell’s 302: drive.google.com/file/d/1hnO0bw…
First we have a copy of an email chain between HRC and Powell. He gave her really bad advice...
The next couple pages of notes don’t seem to add much more, especially as Powell’s 302 was already released with almost no redactions.
MYE-302-50-1A43. It’s 16 pages (pp. 80-95). Bates Nos. 1324-1339. Although the interviewee is redacted, it’s pretty clear it’s Monica Hanley. Link: drive.google.com/file/d/1DNR6C-…
Link to Hanley’s corresponding 302: drive.google.com/file/d/1z_yFid…
We start with an email chain showing that Monica received one of HRC’s old iPads in 2011. I’m not sure who is redacted that Monica gave it to.
Further confirmation that HRC used a Gmail account (at least somewhat, I doubt very much). Hanley discusses creating it for her.
Some discussion regarding the missing laptop that was shipped back from PRN. The employee who was supposed to receive it was Marisa McAuliffe (Terry McAuliffe’s niece).
This section is classified as “SECRET,” and completely redacted. The previously released 302 goes into detail (in a paragraph marked “U” for unclassified). Is there something different in the notes, or has something been later upclassified?
In the notes, Hanley has “no memory of a State email address for HRC”; the 302 states Hanley was “not familiar with the email address SSHRC[at]state[dot]gov.” In my opinion, those are two VERY different things...
If Monica was doing this, I bet they all were.
Computer in basement?
More about Monica’s security issue that is classified Secret.
The rest of the drop appears to be various emails, fax cover sheets, etc., relating to subpoenas and such. Not much here due to all the redactions. Think this is the first time seeing Neil Hammerstrom’s involvement. If anyone finds a nugget in there, let me know!
This wraps up my breakdown on Part 36 of the MYE releases. I will attempt to be more timely on any remaining future releases and getting links updated for folks.
