UK govt has threatened atleast 2 East European countries with a reduction in security & other ‘non EU specific’ cooperation if they “work with parliament to block/delay Brexit”.
Many of you have probably already seen this. A few of you will even know who wrote it.

Britain is heading towards a very dark place right now.

This is not written by someone who wants a good neighbourly relationship. It’s about destruction.

UK govt discussed ending security co-operation with the Irish Republic “as a lever” to force Irish Govt to give up the backstop.

I have report that this may have already been communicated to the Irish govt - trying to confirm.

UK govt has examined “feasibility studies” on mass expulsions of European citizens starting in 2022.

Internal documents reveal govt concerned that people who can’t prove they were present in UK before Brexit shouldn’t be allowed to “create precedents for staying”.
From the documents quoted to me (as I understand it) assuming Brexit is 31 October any EUer who does not have resident status fixed by 2021 will be subject to:
1 “enforcement action”
2 “detention”
3 “removal”

As an “immigration offender”.

The relevant info is clear on this.
The problem Home office are faced with is estimating in advance how many people this would involve. As dependent on this the costings/infrastructure requires would be significant.

* Turkish military strikes now part of a wider offensive deep into Syria

* “Anti-terror corridor” looks to go beyond normal military strategy

* Reports of large population movements underway as civilians flee attacked area

* Kurds “losing control” of ISIL prisoners
The only plausible explanation for this Turkish military strategy is to permanently ethnically cleanse the Kurdish population from the border corridor & repopulate with Sunni Arab refugees from Turkey - who’ll be beholden to Turkey & compliant of Kurdish ethnic cleansing/bombing.

Full scale Turkish ground invasion of North Syria underway.

This must have been planned. No possible other explanation.

If you’ve missed this news then read again. An agreement has been signed which could dramatically change the next election. The key areas to deciding UKs fate might not be “northern leave towns” of BBC cliche but London, SW England, Scotland, Wales & possibly N Ireland.

The LibDem/Green/PC pact should hold & even expand remain held seats in Wales.

In SW England + London the pact should deliver further marginals to the LibDems as Greens stand down in return for a free run at Green targets.

While the SNP aren’t part of the pact it’s likely that SNP will gain seats from Scot Tories as the party’s purpose as one nation unionists comes unstuck in the face of an increasingly English nationalist Tory party.

The Northern Ireland issue is extremely problematic over any Brexit solution. Even if unionists now agree to an Irish Sea customs border, there are no possible guarantees that a future Stormont constellation will not blow the whole thing up and claim alignment with the UK.

Again, at such a key moment in UK and at such high political levels, evidence of deep misunderstanding of EU: The PM is under pressure in some quarters to delay #Brexit vote to allow her first to “improve” deal in Brussels BUT EU is determined not to budge at this stage
2) All EU leaders watching tomorrow’s vote. Of course they want to avoid a no deal #Brexit BUT they feel the deal - so painfully negotiated between EU and UK - is too fresh to re-open. Clarifications, yes but fundamental renegotiations, no.
3) The EU’s international reputation as a tough deal-maker is at stake here too. If Brussels now suddenly “gives in” to U.K. on EU red lines (eg backstop) then that would weaken the EU’s reputation in future trade negotiations with other non EU countries

Services: 80% of UK economy (architecture, management consulting, legal, creative etc) & big services surplus UK runs with RoW & EU. So why does Govt want to damage economy in #Brexit plan being discussed by cabinet today (focusing on goods only?) ft.com/content/2ce78f… via @FT
And anyway services get bundled in today's global value chains for high-value high-tech goods (c. Aircraft engines & their maintenance) which is what UK government is supposed to be promoting via its (mysterious) industrial policy announced back in 2016.
If you wanted a better trade & industrial policy for UK (which is desirable to create high-paying jobs via higher productivity) you wouldn't put it together in the way that #Brexit is taking us (raising barriers to trading with UK's big EU markets).

Jaguar Land Rover recently agreed 2 build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, same company who trashed our steel industry & emptied workers pension funds.

British Army's new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.

Dyson gone 2 Malaysia, with EU loan. Crown Closures, Bournemouth (Was METAL BOX), gone 2Poland with EU grant,employed 1,200.

THREAD.
52/48% - a mandate to pursue leaving. That means investigating & analysing consequences of different scenarios, but not the pursuit of any one of them. 1/
But a narrow mandate - no super majority. This requirement was discussed in Parliament pre Ref. and rejected bcs Ref was only ADVISORY. 2/
