It works because liberals are nerds who think their case can’t stick unless every “i” is dotted. Just repeat the main idea - Trump asked foreign governments to dig up dirt on his political rivals - and ignore the bullshit.
This story hurts Trump because it is goddamned easy to explain to people and they would love to complicate it as much as possible
