Ministers have agreed to hand over £86.6m of taxpayers money to four ferry companies to ensure the flow of vital medicines into the UK after a No-Deal Brexit under a deal to be announced on Friday afternoon:

Britanny Ferries, DFDS, P&O and Stena Line. Story to follow soon....
Taxpayers lost about £50m in the spring when UK didn't leave the EU and the original £89m ferry contracts were cancelled.

This time the cancellation fee is a much smaller £11.5m, raising further questions about the original December 2018 deal...

this does seem to imply that nearly £40m of taxpayer money went down the pan, unnecessarily
