This is the UK’s only attempt at fracking and now appears to be the beginning of the end to fracking shale gas in UK...
Drilling suspended after 2.9 magnitude and the company has begun moving gear from the Lancashire site...
Cuadrilla licence expires soon and it’s understood they will not be seeking another

A court in London was told today that MI5 agents are authorised to commit serious crimes, on British soil, without informing prosecutors, under a secretive MI5 policy...
A Tribunal heard today that the secret policy governing MI5 involvement in criminality has been in place since the early 1990s and operated without any oversight until 2012, when Prime Minister David Cameron asked the Intelligence Services Commissioner to monitor the policy.
It is now known, for example, that Pat Finucane, the human rights lawyer, was murdered in 1989 by a British army agent, while eating dinner with his family at his Belfast home.

The basic model shows rock above the convergent plate boundary being compressed and bent as it stores elastic energy. Once friction is overcome, the overriding plate slides abruptly up the fault causing the leading edge to heave seawater upward generating a #tsunami.
In 2011, the M9 #Japan #earthquake ruptured a fault area 500kms x 200kms over an interval of nearly 3 min. Surveys of sea-floor bathymetry before and after the earthquake document up to 50 m of fault displacement at near the Japan Trench.
