X : Do you really think kubernetes is a "waste of space"?
Me : Yes. It's a future home for legacy and niches with managed kubernetes by Amazon already doninating. The real battle is up the stack and currently AWS is storming that one as well. Stop fighting the pointless battles.
X : But 12,000 people were at Kubecon.
Me : And? Hundreds of thousands thought cloud was a fad. The problem with punctuated equilibriums is that most only truly notice the impact when it's too late to change the game.
X : But there's still a future for containers.
Me : Last punch card system was 2012. Of course small fortunes can be made squeezing value out of past legacy. But really? The industry should focus on crumbs whilst letting AWS help itself to riches? What sort of attitude is that?
... the only large companies that seem to have real fight left in them are Microsoft and Alibaba. It's pathetic.
