Here is my take on #EPRDF's statement released today - rather a rebuttal to #TPLF's one released on 15/10/19:

EPRDF's:

TPLF's: m.facebook.com/story.php?stor…

N.B. It shouldn't have been referred as EPRDF's statement but I am going to let this one slid. 1/9
1) #EPRDF indicated: #TPLF said the merger plan started since #Abiy took power. Wrong, TPLF said the reverse, admitted its involvement in the past & confirmed they aren't ready to join now due to the current unstable situation in #Ethiopia & the unsustainable move by others 2/9
2) Since #Abiy came to power, he was presenting himself as the originator of the merger plan & was taking all the credits - why is he now saying it was #EPRDF's idea & #TPLF was involved, etc i.e. why is he retreating when the gone gets tough. He can't have it both ways! 3/9
3) #Abiy was adamant that the merger was going to happen soon but he is now indicating it is still "Work in Progress" & far from finalised. Why change of heart now & why starting to pass the blame on others. Could this have something to do with the recent #ODP's meeting? 4/9
4) #TPLF clearly provoked #Abiy hence he is now trying to defend himself under #EPRDF's skin, as I've indicated recently.

TPLF has finally managed to get under Abiy's skin which is good provided Abiy will now start to take TPLF seriously & have a sensible dialogue with them. 5/9
5) Why is the current #EPRDF's pretending here as if all parties, including #TPLF, have been working together lately, which is a lie. This is an insult to the people's intelligence. Also, the statement (likely #ODP's) lacks legitimacy, as it doesn't include all sister parties 6/9
Frankly speaking, I like the latest devt with #Abiy & #TPLF - no more pretending which I think will have two likely outcomes: it could either assist with bringing peace in #Ethiopia or destroy it completely. The choice is clear.

My brief suggestion on the way forward are: 7/9
a) It's now apparent that #Abiy & Co.'s plans regarding #TPLF hasn't worked, rather brought a reverse effect. So, it's now better for all #EPRDF's sister parties to refrain from hating each other & to start to work together for one key objective (the betterment of #Ethiopia) 8/9
b) If Item (a) isn't viable, they should divorce amicably & start to take responsibilities for their actions & be accountable for what occurs in their regions. Also, assist with paving a democratic path for a smooth transition of power e.g. facilitate a democratic election. 9/9.
