My StopGapOttawa challenge starts by leaving my inaccessible home, and hopping into an inaccessible cab. Not an auspicious start :/ #StopGapOttawa24hrAccessibilityChallenge

The Ottawa Airport has an accessible entrance and elevator to departure floor. That’s good. #StopGapOttawa24hrAccessibilityChallenge
But I asked how ppl w scooters and wheelchairs can board and use planes. I was told they require assistance getting into a plane-specific wheelchair, then the seat. Doesn’t sound like we are designing independent air travel for all. #StopGapOttawa24hrAccessibilityChallenge
Arrived at Toronto City Airport. Saw an elevator down to the tunnel that takes you from the island to the city (good). Got on a shuttle bus that is accessible (also good). Bus is full tho so I figure getting on and off is a challenge. #StopGapOttawa24hrAccessibilityChallenge
Arrived at Queens Park, there is an accessible ramp out front given construction at the ground floor accessible entrance. #StopGapOttawa24hrAccessibilityChallenge
Elevator to the third floor ONDP Caucus boardroom, good. No automatic door for the boardroom, not so good. And man, the alleys around the table are narrow enough to walk, impossibly to roll. #StopGapOttawa24hrAccessibilityChallenge
Meeting over, now headed home. Down the QP elevator, back to airport for home. Sad reminder these beautiful stairs aren’t for all. #StopGapOttawa24hrAccessibilityChallenge
