US ambassador to Nato reacts to the AKK proposal: „If the Turks would ask for more help from the international community I think the Europeans could step forward“. euractiv.com/section/defenc…
And: „. I don’t see the U.S. playing a role there.“
That of course is not at all what the proposal is about—it was a reaction to the Turkish incursion into Syria which produced plenty of outrage in Germany.

„P5, Europe, others“ should work with MENA powers to build security order — sounds like we‘re in a post-American world at least with regard to this (former) key region. The „others“ are probably China, India and Japan.
Let’s have a look at the outside powers that have shaped the security order of the region:
- Ottoman Empire for centuries;
- Britain and France from WWI until the 1950s/1960s;
- US and Soviet Union during later Cold War;
- US since end of Cold War;
- currently: US, Russia
In next years hard to see outside power willing and able to shape regional order:
- US on way out, largely;
- Russia ambitious but lacks economic power;
- China, other Asians reluctant, far away and unwilling to enter into regional conflicts;
- Europeans too weak and unwilling

Another Balkan country to catch my eye is Romania, considered to be one of the most corrupt in the EU. Rudy Giuliani wrote the leader, Klaus Iohannis, a letter Aug. 22nd expressing concern of their anti-corruption efforts. 1/

Rudy worried their efforts were too effective. He was retained by the Freeh Group International Solutions & supposedly handled through his security company, Giuliani Security & Safety. Freeh Group’s a security firm run by former head of the FBI Louis Freeh 2/
Keep in mind Giuliani’s stance is the opposite of US policy. The Freeh group was representing an American Romanian businessman caught in the anticorruption probe. He was later convicted. Both the US & Romania denounced the letter. 3/

Not sure how accurate this is but according to sources Russia may have helped Iran in the seizure of UK tanker by steering it w false GPS coordinates. Russia has sophisticated spoofing technology and have messed w GPS coordinates before. Will keep an eye google.com/amp/s/www.mirr…

Many Iranians criticised one of BBC Farsi’s journalists for her comments on Iran-Hezbullah relations. Some have even threatened her that she won’t be allowed to go back to Iran after the fall of the regime. Many Iranians believe some of @bbcpersian journalists support the regime.
In the past few days some anti-BBC slogans have been chanted by the protesters in Iran. In a comment one of BBCFarsi journalist claims that ‘Trump wants to turn Iran into another Syria by starting a civil war etc’. The same propaganda which is pumped out by Iranian state media.
Some of @BBCPersian journalists block anyone who criticises them. One of its journalists in particular has publicly supported A.Khamenei on his social media pages. I have written to a few MPs and the BBC about. Will see if BBC is interested in opening an investigation.
