As fast as I could, and trying to make myself breathe as soon as I had gotten far enough away. I wanted to scream. I wanted to demand that this man be held accountable. But I couldn’t. The words dried up in my throat. My rage turned to ashes before it could pass my lips. (7/?)
Last night, more than anything else, I was reminded of that. Of feeling so silenced by the pressure of a crowd around me and not knowing what to do or what to say. But this time it was different. (8/?)
