Just filed my column on WeWork, and I have to say, after writing so much about Trump, and impeachment, I found it immensely cheering.
It's so bonkers! It is probably the single most bonkers business story in American business history!
And it's also relatively cheerful. I mean, I feel really bad for the employees who thought, two months ago, that they were going to be rich, and now think they'll be lucky to keep their jobs.
I've been there, sort of--my startups never got that close to IPO, but I went through summary layoffs, which suck. But as these things go, this is about the best-case scenario: unemployment is under 4%, Softbank is kicking in money for severance.
Meanwhile, no one died! No middle-class retirees lost their life savings! A once-great Republic is not in danger of being split asunder!
And the idea that Adam Neumann was ever allowed to run a falafel stand, much less a multi-billion dollar business is just so--to repeat myself--completely, utterly, delightfully bonkers.
