🚨 WARNING: Proud dad story incoming. 🚨

Last week, one of my daughter's kindergarten classmates got scraped up after a fall at recess. Some of the older kids laughed at her, which obviously made her feel sad.
They found a teacher who asked my daughter and another classmate to join the girl who had been hurt in the classroom for the rest of recess. They wanted to give her a chance to settle down and nurture friendship among the students.
My daughter was really proud of being able to help her classmate in this way, and told me that night that she was going to take on the task of being there for other kids who fall down or get laughed at. If they needed help, they could come to her.
Unbeknownst to me and my wife (until about a week later, when her amazing kindergarten teacher told us), my daughter mentioned to her teacher that she wanted a job while at school, and she would help any of the kids. Same thing she said to me.
Her teacher was smitten by this idea, and invited my daughter to tell the class. So, she got up in front of her whole class (!!) and told them that if they ever got hurt or laughed at, they could come find her and she would play with them and help them feel better.
AND THEN, a bunch of her classmates wanted join her—so they've formed a cadre of kindergarten students with the responsibility of helping other kids who get hurt or laughed at during recess.
I seriously couldn't be more proud of her.
(The first day, she plunked herself right outside the recess door and waited for kids who needed help. She wanted to be sure they knew where to find her. I gave her the idea that she could just let everyone know she'd be playing on the playground if they needed her.)
