There has been lots of speculation and chatter that secretive Tonopah Test Range Airport (TTR)—the semi operational home of classified aircraft and FME assets and test facility, among other things—is being greatly expanded and totally revamped. These are entirely false. 1/2
The construction that has been ongoing there has been to refresh and repair the facility's runways and taxiways, like any other airport. Yes, expansion is possible, but that isn't the case at this time. Lots of hangars as it is.
It is the most likely home of a pocket UCAV force & does a lot of development and training work for SOCOM. It also houses lots of the FME assets used for things like Red Flag and tests on the NTTR. LO work is also done out of there. RAT55 a frequent visitor if not based there.
If the Army pushed forward with its stealth helo 2.0 program, that is likely its home, as well.
F-117 force stored there. But that is roughly a dozen hangars out of 54 hangars not including the sequestered ones to the south.
This could always change suddenly. But at this point, that's the case. B-21 will be at Edwards. New facilities already built for it. Likely also RQ-180 once it moves into a gray state.
