Interesting question (I think) - why is public awareness in England of the English Revolution/Commonwealth/Glorious Revolution period much lower than awareness of the Tudor period (Henry VIII, 6 wives etc)?
(Measure it by TV series - dramas and histories/historical fiction/popular history/(I think) time spent teaching in in school.)
The 1641-1690 period has both huge personalities and enormous contemporary resonance (Crown v Parliament; England/Scotland/Ireland relations; relations between Britain and the continent/fundamental debates across the land about how the country should be governed).
Huge scope for great story-telling there. Both popular history and historical fiction. Read Christopher Hill (great though a bit dated now) if you are in any doubt.
