Shout-out to Boomers who understand the meaning behind "ok boomer" and aren't bothered by it because they know it has nothing to do with them. Self-awareness and empathy are a powerful combination.
For more than a decade, Millennials have been inexplicably and irrationally slammed in media on everything from killing this or that industry to having greater social intelligence to something as trivial as participation trophies. It seems all the anger of the past two decades...
...has been irrationally channeled into creating a genre of bloviating "journalism" meant to generate clickbait-friendly headlines and spurious reporting that panders to "get off my lawn" types who are furious that the world is changing around them and refuse to change with it.
Millennials and Gen-Z have inherited wars we didn't start, an economy we did not ruin, a higher education system that is the opposite of reasonable, laws on the book that intentionally seek to marginalize vulnerable communities, and mocking from people who caused all of this.
And top of that, we have the looming global catastrophe of climate change that continues to be insufficiently addressed and threatens the existence of humanity while those in power continue to do nothing and dismiss folks like @AOC who are at least TRYING to stave off disaster.
When someone says "ok boomer", they're pushing back against anti-science, anti-woman, anti-LGBTQ, anti-white-privilege-and-supremacy-aware, capitalist-happy assholes who would rather have their lives dictated by bumper sticker ideology than rational thought and practice.
If this does not describe you, "ok boomer" is not directed at you. And yet, I'm pretty sure that Boomers and other folks of past generations who understand this already get it without needing to be told. Thanks for reading. /thread
