THREAD: Let's talk about direct vs circumstantial evidence. The law treats them the same. @SenatorBurr says there's no "direct evidence of collusion" b/w Trump & Russians. Put aside the fact that @MarkWarner doesn't agree w/ this. What matters is if there's evidence of collusion.
2/ Every juror in America is told "Both direct and circumstantial evidence are acceptable types of evidence to prove or disprove the elements of a charge...and neither is necessarily more reliable than the other. NEITHER is entitled to any greater weight than the other."
3/ What is circumstantial evidence? Suppose I’m trying to prove that my son Nelson ate some freshly baked brownies that we made together. When I turned away, all of the brownies were out. When I turned back, one was gone...

Border crossings are far below historic highs.
Most undocumented immigrants overstay their visas.
Experts see no security crisis at the border.
Most drugs come via ports of entry.
Immigrants are less likely to commit crime than native-born Americans.

We want smart, effective border security: better staffing/tech at ports of entry & elsewhere, more immigration judges, better monitoring of mail & cargo, and humanitarian treatment of migrants & refugees. NOT a costly, ineffective, ego-project wall. #SOTU

For decades now the NRA has successfully lobbied Congress to prevent any funding for the CDC to study why gun violence in the US has grown to epidemic proportions.

I don’t have a Ph.D, I’m not a social scientist, but I’d like to offer a few observations & ask a few questions:
1. Nearly all gun murders are committed by one gender. Let’s study why that is.

2. The vast majority of guns are owned by white people. Why is that? Most of these white ppl live in nearly all-white suburban/rural areas which have little or no crime.Why do they need so many guns?
3. Why are most of these school shootings & other mass shootings committed by young white males?

4. Why, when the media covers gun violence in our black communities, do they never speak of it as the result of millions of African Americans still forced to live...

In the post-women-march debate, one thing which was missing and less addressed was why patriarchy exists. It is time to understand the origins of patriarchy and how capitalism sustains it. Social relations are determined by material means.
Nothing is free. Same is the case with patriarchy.

B4 agriculture mode of production, man & woman were equal; they both could hunt % gather and utilize collectively what they had. %, importantly,there was no private property. Patriarchy is directly linked with private property.
When agricultural era began, it required massive production and those who controlled agricultural lands needed to transfer their properties to their sons and in order to do that women’s sexual freedom was limited.
