Ginni Thomas just endorsed an op-ed that criticizes a federal court for invalidating Virginia Republicans' racial gerrymander.

But her husband, Justice Clarence Thomas, voted twice to kill that very same gerrymander.
The first time around, Justice Thomas actually went further than any other member of the court, arguing that every district in Virginia drawn along racial lines should be invalidated. supremecourt.gov/opinions/16pdf…
A federal district court—the one criticized in the op-ed Ginni shared—basically agreed with Justice Thomas and struck down the remaining districts.

Justice Thomas then cast the fifth vote to bar the House of Delegates from appealing that decision. supremecourt.gov/opinions/18pdf…
Of course, Ginni and Clarence Thomas can have different opinions! But I wonder if Ginni thinks her husband killed Virginia's racial gerrymander "to aid [Democratic] candidates"?

The op-ed suggests that when courts invalidate GOP gerrymanders, they're acting out of partisanship.
Spouses should not be expected to share the same opinions.

But it is curious that Ginni Thomas believes the "Holder/Obama machine ran VA over" when it was actually her husband's (principled and consistent) opposition to racial gerrymandering that helped flip the state.
