This isn’t a specific denial. It’s worded very carefully. If @DanCardenMP specifically denies singing Hey Jude with the word Jude replaced by Jew then I’ll delete my tweet and let the party figure it out

Two things which I am not sure about re a Lib/Lab 'remain' alliance:
1. Lab are a 2nd Ref party but *not* a remain party. They have no policy to support remain. Though their policies make remain more likely
2. Swinson has said Corbyn isn't fit to be PM and she won't prop up
I totally understand why a Lib-Lab pact would be best for the remain cause, as in combination those two parties make remain more likely. I just don't understand it from the Lib perspective, particularly if they won't have coalition with Corbyn-led Labour in any event.
It's all very well to say to the Libs 'stop being so selfish and get with the remain programme' but given Labour is neutral on Brexit, not remain, + Corbyn, there are some decent principle objections in response.

Quick thoughts on this - bearing in mind it is already pretty confused in the Telegraph article and the manifesto hasn't been published so this could be a balloon being sent up.

This relates to regular noises in recent years suggesting that soldiers should be protected from prosecution for offences going back more than, say, 10 years.

The direct targets are potential war crimes in Iraq/Afghanistan and illegal acts during the Troubles e.g. Bloody Sunday
There is a separate issue, relating to Human Rights Act. The Telegraph splash is confused - soldiers can't be prosecuted under the Human Rights Act, it doesn't work like that.

This is about investigations of historic allegations, e.g. ones which happened more 10+ years ago.

Labour Against the Witchhunt wouldn't even report a Nazi.

LAW have welcomed former MP Jim Sheridan's reinstatement by the party. He was suspended last summer over an #antisemitic statement he posted on Facebook. But LAW don't accept he did anything wrong in the first place. /1
When Labour members err, there ought to be opportunity for them to learn from the experience and make amends. But comrade Sheridan's statement after his suspension was lifted suggested his only regret was getting caught and he appeared to blame those who complained about him. /2
Let's recall what got him into trouble: Sheridan declared he had lost respect and empathy for an entire ethnic group - "the Jewish community" - due to events in @UKLabour. The #Holocaust, pogroms and persecution no longer moved him because of "their Blairite plotters". /3
