Today is the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The wall was built by communist East Germany—who formally named it the “Anti-Fascist Defense Wall.” After the end of WW2, the antifa ideology of the Communists was absorbed into the state ideology of East Germany.
During interwar years, Soviet propaganda labelled anyone a "fascist" who opposed communism or its agenda, much like what antifa do today. "Anti-fascism" has no political ideology on its own. You can be against fascism, but also in support of a far-left totalitarian society.
See my lecture from this week on antifa at the @Heritage Foundation. Few seem to know or want to know that the original Antifa Aktion (from which modern antifa is modeled on) opposed & fought the liberals much, much more than they did the Nazis.
