The Trump campaign used Facebook ads to cynically exploit VETERANS DAY and collect email addresses and donations

STEP 1: Place Facebook ad asking people to "Join President Trump in thanking American Veterans"
STEP 2: Submit your email address to the Trump campaign and get added to the email list.

No veterans are thanked when you fill out this form.
STEP 3: Once you fill out the form, you are immediately directed to a fundraising page.

This is absolutely indefensible journalistically.

You can’t have a media outlet that covers politics but has a policy of not investigating (which is another word for reporting) one or more candidates.
I am a paid subscriber to Bloomberg News because there are so many great journalists there doing amazing work but this is a real disservice to all of them.

You can’t declare the biggest story of the next 12 months off limits.
It’s also clear that Bloomberg had involvement with different aspects of the editorial product (editorials was just the place where he had the most impact) and there is nothing in this statement about that stopping or editorial independence

1. Bloomberg wasn't going to get into the race until he became worried that Sanders or Warren will win

Now he's entering next week with a $30M+ ad buy

I don't think these "biographical" spots will have much of an impact.

But he's just getting started

2. To me, the more interesting question is whether Bloomberg starts to use his effectively unlimited resources to attack Sanders & Warren

After all, he seems more motivated by stopping Sanders and Warren than winning himself

Otherwise he would have gotten in a long time ago
3. I am very confident that Bloomberg has already conducted extensive polling to determine what the most damaging messages are against Warren and Sanders.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ads are already cut.

The question is if/when we will see them.
