When this level of corruption permeates a society, so many things (that we don’t even think about) become twisted and laborious.
Whatever thing it is that you love to do - it could be anything - will become difficult. Instead of spending your time being your best self, doing your best at that thing, you’ll be dealing with ways to cut through corruption. While your dream is dangled just out of reach.
You’ll be dealing with people who have oodles of money to throw at their vanity projects, and everyone slowly becoming accustomed to the bar going lower, and lower, and lower…
You’ll be dealing with people—with no expertise, experience, or basic knowledge of your thing—having power over whether or not *you* get to do your thing.
They’ll also have a vested interest in making sure they’re not exposed as frauds. How are they exposed as frauds? When people who have expertise are allowed to show how it’s really done.
You think our news is vapid now? Just wait. It can be worse - WAY worse.
You think we have lots of red tape? Just wait until most of the people running things 1. DGAF and 2. know absof*ckinglutely NOTHING. Just wait until they cling to those jobs not because they’re really f*cking good at them but because they get paid to do nothing.
We’ve had a long run of being known for our seriousness where seriousness is merited. For the willingness to do hard work for the sake and love of excellence.
Trump is trying to degrade this as fully and as quickly as he possibly can. He’s a perfect tool for Putin and anyone like Putin - he wouldn’t know hard work or excellence if it bit his ample @$$. His fragile ego can’t take anyone who actually knows what they’re doing.
I’ll keep saying this till I’m blue in the face. 2020 is about whether we want Trump and his mediocre mobster cabal to strangle this dream of ours. I. SAY. F*CK. NO.
