Great response about how she felt upon hearing the president smear her: that it was devastating that a president would say that about ANY ambassador. Translation: this isn't just about her personally. It's about all of us.

Yovanovitch's love for this country and disappointment/dismay at our current situation is palpable.
Yovanovitch: I and *others* have made things better. She's humble, credible, and a patriot.
She's a dream witness. Even though she is being intimidated, even though she is scared, she still won't make (cult bait) conjectures about Trump's motives.
Yovanovitch is Trump's worst nightmare: a poised, serious, patriotic career public servant, who visibly cares more about this country, its ideals, and the people in it, than herself.
These are the kind of people he cannot tolerate because they aren't motivated by money, material possessions, self-interest, or fear - aka all the essential ingredients for corruption.
Because he's a money-laundering loser mobster, he knows no other way of operating. He cannot fathom that anyone would be unlike him, which is his kryptonite. He assumed that true, selfless patriots like Yovanovitch were few and far between. He was wrong.
