Spoke to several Hong Kong bankers, finance and insurance folks about why they came out to protest today. Almost all said police violence this week. Several mentioned violent scenes at CUHK. Said they wanted to show support for students on the front lines.

"People in Central are cold blooded, to be honest, they care about making money," one well dressed 40-year-old woman told me. "But right now, we want to show the Hong Kong government that we care."
"Fight for freedom! Stand with Hong Kong!" Huge crowd in Central today.
Many mentioned police violence as a reason for coming out today. "They're very unprofessional," said one 30-something auditor. "They're making more people come out and making people more violent."
