Unless @ksieff and @NickMiroff have seen accords between the US/Guatemala different from the text of the agreement already released, transit through the country is not actually required. Same with the Honduras and El Salvador deals.

People involved with the negotiations KNOW Guatemala can't handle asylum seekers. They're optimistic, though—with support, it's possible in the future.
