Hey, urban and suburban drivers of unnecessarily over-powered and over-sized pick-up trucks. Can we talk? Pull up a stool. What. The. Actual. Fuck. Is. Wrong? Do each and everyone of you need a hug?
Will another inch on the lift-kit do it? A touch wider tires? Another decibel or two from that after-market exhaust?
impatient, entitled drivers come in all makes and models, but there are some identifiable trends. But the ratio with pick-up guys who need to do the brush by, or stomp on the gas, or make some other display of perceived dominance is super, super high. Super high
It's comically dependable. On the bike you hear the hum of the big tires first because the exhaust is usually getting pushed out the back, and it's like, “Oh boy, here we go.” And sure enough, gotta do something. It's not everybody, obviously, but man, the ratio is high
What's it gonna take for you guys to feel good about yourselves and your trucks again so you can relax? Whatever it takes. If it's the hugs, OK, but that's really gonna slow down the riding
While you're here, can we be honest? 99% of you urban and suburban pick-up guys don't need that over-sized, over-powered truck 99% of the time anyway, do you? Not really.
If you replaced it with a sensible vehicle for your daily driver you could probably rent one of those behemoths every time you actually needed one with just a fraction of the gas money you saved.
So who really doesn't “belong” on the road? Something to think about next time you're filling up that over-sized tank and have some time to kill
