#Rwot Don’t take this Leadership for granted.

My father often says that these rights we have today ,the freedom of movement, the right to education and other rights in general ,plus the development we see everywhere were not here before.
He told me that back in the years, traveling from one district or one province to another for example Butare to Kigali ,recquired a special travelling permission referred to as a “ Laisser Passer.”
The permission lasted after some days and it was mandatory to show it to local authorities of the place you travelled to as a stranger in their constituency.
Sometimes when i heard this from different dialogues, media or elsewhere i couldn’t understand well how a citizen had to ask for a permission to travel inside her/ his own country for family reasons, medical issues or other as if he/she’s a prisoner .
So,Yesterday when i was helping him looking for his old papers i found his “Laisser Passer “ and when i showed it to him he said “This is a proof of what i’ve been telling u,It was in 1992&i just wanted to visit my family but had to lie that they were sick.
He went on saying that for years ,Rwandans lived under oppression and divisionism caused by the dictatorial regime which took the country to the Genocide Against Tutsi in 1994.
The history of our country can teach us a lesson as youth, let’s always protect these achievements and strive for the good as we are the hope of the future.
Blessed may be the ones that fight for a better Rwanda 🙏✊.
