On November 21 it had been claimed that "a high level official from main opposition CHP had a secret meeting with AKP chair & President Erdoğan". Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun refuted claims.
Sözcü columnist Rahmi Turan announced later that the person who had the meeting with President Erdoğan was former CHP presidential candidate Muharrem İnce.
Later when claims were refuted, Turan announced "I did a mistake and will do what is necessary. I trusted my source and wrote it but now I regret." Turan also announced that his source was Talat Atilla.
Atilla responded to the situation in his column on turktime.com, "I verified the claims through party chair Kılıçdaroğlu, I asked him if this is true. Now I expect the party chair and officials to speak up."
CHP spokesperson Faik Öztrak, "journalist Rahmi Turan announced his source; now this source has to announce his information's source. No one has right to design CHP like this."
CHP chair Kılıçdaroğlu, "there are plots to slow down CHP, they are thinking of how to unmake our progress. I am ready to debate with AKP chair & President Erdoğan in any platform."
Kılıçdaroğlu, "they will do anything to stop us in this process. They will start fights during our congress meetings. Whomever you see starting fights, throw out because they are spies of the Palace."
Former CHP presidential candidate Muharrem İnce, "since the election eve, I have been subjected to accusations and most of them are made up by CHP headquarters."
İnce, "I called on to party leader Kılıçdaroğlu proposing to make a joint statement, he said he would call back. He never did. We originally should have made this statement on 21st of November not by myself on 24th."
İnce, "there is a plot; those who are responsible must be revealed. CHP is not a company or a family, it is a political party that aims to develop, transform Turkey."
İnce, "the energy they waste while attempting to weaken me could have made CHP the governing party if they targeted AKP. We must reveal those behind this and kick them out of the party."
CHP spokesperson Faik Öztrak, "no party member should support the plot laid out by the Palace; we must all remain calm."
Istanbul mayor İmamoğlu, "our party is going through one of its most successful days and must serve to the people; all else is beyond my interest."
AKP spokesperson Ömer Çelik, "CHP headquarters must apologize to our president if they have even the slightest responsibility. They must apologize to the CHP politicians they are insulting to as well. They owe apologies to people for fake claims."
İnce later appeared on Habertürk, "this is a plot against me; an interest group is targeting me. They have even fooled the party chair. I have kept silent since presidential election but no more. Clean politics cannot be done in silence."
CHP chair Kılıçdaroğlu, "I had spoken to Talat Atilla 7 years ago once and he had subverted my words when publishing."
İnce tweeted about the claims, "the party leadership must investigate and reveal who is behind this. Obviously this is a plot. If they cannot find it, they will face the same plot in time."
CHP Central Executive Committee gathered following the claims of a CHP politician having secret meeting with President Erdoğan. Committee ruled for no need for disciplinary process to be initiated but noting that further plots can target the party.
Origin of the claims of "CHP politician having secret meeting with President Erdoğan", Sözcü columnist Rahmi Turan apologized, "consider this like a traffic accident; an honest mistake without an intention but due to clumsiness."
IYI Party chair Akşener, "all TVs focused on a discussion on CHP now. It looks interesting that the pro-government media that does not care about the opposition is showing so much care for CHP now; tears are filling my eyes."
Government ally MHP leader Bahçeli, "what we are seeing at CHP is not a plot but a project, to create an alternative to Kılıçdaroğlu due to his cooperation with terrorist organizations."
AKP chair & President Erdoğan, "Mr. Kemal has made CHP a factory of lies; now his plots are revealed and are obvious. It is best if Mr. Kemal (Kılıçdaroğlu) remains on his seat."
CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu, "there is a plot against us. Even if you might set up the Great Wall of China ahead of us, we would destroy it and continue our march."
CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu to President Erdoğan, "There are so many problems and you focus on CHP. Who are you to even utter the name of CHP? It is one of the oldest parties in the world; it is the party of National Power."
CHP's İnce tweeted, "if we are living through unwanted days as CHP in recent days this is because of those who are in the party without internalizing the party's values. Despite all these, you will see the Palace will not benefit from these."
