Binge-watching episodes of "J.A.G." at 5am on Thanksgiving vacation like that's a totally normal thing to do.
"J.A.G." is great because it's charm lies in completely ludicrous writing, and it doesn't even to try pretend otherwise.
If "J.A.G." were even a little more serious or a little more ridiculous, it would be unwatchable. But it keeps you just interested enough to continue watching without rolling your eyes.

And holy shit, I have laughed so many times at these plots. They're beautiful.

As a proud military veteran and former Army grunt, I would be concerned about Aubrey Huff's threatening other Americans like this, but his shot grouping and general marksmanship are so bad in this picture that the only thing under threat at the moment is his dignity.
It's always interesting that males like @aubrey_huff are all about the Stars and Stripes when it comes to firing into a paper target but when their country is at war, the only place they can be found is on Twitter.
It's the day after 9/11, and @aubrey_huff is being interviewed...

Reporter: Aubrey, our country was just viciously attacked. What are patriots like you going to do?

Aubrey: I'm going to make millions of dollars playing baseball and virtue signaling on the weekend at gun ranges.

In 2015, while Governor of Indiana, Mike Pence signed a law that gave businesses a license to discriminate against LGBTQ people. Even Republican politicians spoke out against it. A massive boycott ensued. Indiana lost $60m and Pence's approval plummeted. The law was changed,

Ahh yes, my mouse driver is asking for a firewall exemption so it can accept incoming connections.

You wanna see what's a personal nightmare to me? OK so this fucking mouse has a 158mb driver, right?
And you download it and install it and it goes "OK, I see you have a Kiro. Please auto-update so I can get the driver for it"
which tells you two things:
1. that 158mb driver doesn't actually have the drivers for the mouse
2. you can't archive this driver!

I realized it would be useful for me to say a bit more on this, and since effusing about Tim Gunn is one of my favorite pastimes--he's an absolute ✨magician✨ of a feedback giver imo--I figured I'd take a moment to detail the two main things I've learned from his example.
(Actually I feel like I've learned a lot about expectation setting and other things from him too, but let's just stick to feedback for now. :D)
The first lesson is that: the receiver of your feedback will pick up on the energy you're inhabiting while giving it.

If you feel bad/scared while giving the feedback, the person will pick up on that and think "oh no, IS there something I should feel bad/scared about?"

There is a distinct difference between 'informational' #writing and 'informed' writing. We teach 'informational' writing in our schools and, too often, receive correctly-structured and perfectly-cited bullshit. Students regurgitate main ideas and details, often word-for-word,

and, in fact, show very little understanding of what they've read. This is especially prevalent in social studies. We teachers often encourage this because we emphasize organization and feel so proud when our students can correctly write in MLA format.

'Informed' writing, on the other hand, demonstrates voice, POV, synthesis of different ideas. Its purpose may be the same as informational writing, but it is infinitely more effective because the reader believes that the writer a) understands the content; and b) gives a shit.

1. Every writer feels hopeless sometimes. Whether it's while writing, while editing, while reading about the triumphs of others, or when having an unsatisfactory social experience, writing will never be 100% happy. This is life. Ups and downs. Paddle the waves until you can surf.
2. If you feel hopeless while writing, stop to consider why. Did you not plan enough? Did you plot too much and now it feels boring? Is a scene not working? Are you in the Soggy Middle, which is terrible for everyone? Figure out the problem and fight through it. Don't dwell.
