The spin that FBI/DOJ didn’t investigate the “Trump campaign” - just the campaign chairman, it’s highest ranking military advisor and two foreign policy advisors - deserves at least some credit for being audacious
Especially as if you weren’t and only looking at these four guys, you should have defensively briefed the campaign but you didn’t, because you were
And we’ll ignore the texts between a high ranking lawyer to the Deputy FBI Director (Page) and one of the lead investigators on the case (Strzok) about “opening up” on “Trump” and “saving” particular CI codenames for when they opened a probe on Trump (texts redacted, of course)

This is a very important two minutes from AG Barr that sums up the major takeaways from the IG report
FBI/DOJ:

—Spied on Trump campaign

—Found exculpatory evidence from own spies, ignored it

—Sought FISA based on uncorroborated dossier

—Interviewed Steele’s only primary source post election, he didn’t corroborate

—Repeatedly misled FISA court to imply source corroborated
As Barr says elsewhere in the interview, the people who carried out these actions or “gross abuses” don’t have a credible explanation for their pattern of behavior

And “that’s why we have Durham”. To compel the real story, which Horowitz could not do

The IG report confirms at least one of you is lying about your meeting at the State Dept. in Oct 2016.

Nuland testified under oath to the Senate Intelligence Committee that she was "not aware of" an Oct 2016 meeting with Steele at the State Dept. "until afterwards"
(Of course that never made any sense because directly before that Nuland said she "actively chose not to be a part of the" Steele briefing. You can't actively not go to a meeting you don't know is happening....)

THREAD: You will probably see plenty of spin and headlines today claiming the FBI is exonerated in this report. That is laughable, to put it lightly. The report eviscerates senior officials who broke rules and abused power.

Let's go over some of the details.
For starters, the "no bias" talking point you see is misdirection from the left. See this line, from the IG:

"Our role in this review was not to second-guess discretionary judgments by Department personnel about whether to open an investigation"
If you see someone harping on the "bias" point, they are giving you a broad, misapplied talking point to distract from the specifics within the IG report that are damning.

2. FISA Warrant

The #FBI and #DOJ obtained a #FISA spy warrant on #CarterPage, a volunteer adviser to the Trump campaign. Under the so-called “two-hop” rule, the FISA warrant could have been used to spy on anyone with two layers of separation from Page himself.
