Because the govt want us to talk about their threatening of Channel 4, I’m going to point out they still haven’t explained why the PM told Northern Irish businesses there would be no checks or processes of any kinds on their GB bound goods with the PM’s deal when there will.
And we know there will because the Dept of Exiting the EU, the Brexit Sec and his de facto deputy have told us there will. But the PM continues to insist there won’t.
I’d also point out the Prime Minister (on the steps of Downing St no less) promised the voters a plan for social care. We are yet to see it. Where is it?
That in the words of the IFS their manifesto would be thin for one budget let alone a whole parliament.
On LBC right now the PM is giving a good account of why the govt is so keen to talk about anything but the details of their prospectus/record.
How does the PM intend to raise the money to match his fiscal commitments? IFS have said they will need to raise taxes. Which ones?
In what areas does the PM propose to diverge from EU regulation and which does he not?
What does the Russia report say? The government has given no justification for not publishing it before the election.
What, after ten years, is the govt going to do to reduce the 1.1 million people, yes *1.1 million people*, who are on council house waiting lists?
How, without freedom of movement from the EU and bearing down on immigration, will the social care sector recruit and survive? Or for that matter hospitality? Or agriculture? Or other parts of the NHS?
Ultimately- beyond “getting Brexit done”, what is a five year Johnson government for? What is its aim? What will Britain look like? With two weeks to go, we don’t really know.
These are just a few reasons why it’s easier and more convenient to talk about pulling the plug on Channel 4
