1/ If he refuses to participate *now*, he confirms what we all already knew: his complaints about the process were bullsh*t, and will always *be* bullsh*t, and media should do the responsible thing and stop covering them. Pure, 100% dishonest political rhetoric is not newsworthy.
2/ Personally, I think it's 50/50 whether he participates. If he doesn't he can—not really, but he will—say the process is illegitimate and he wants nothing to do with it. But if he does participate, he can very publicly throw 1,000 wrenches into the process at every stage of it.
