1) Reading the impeachment public opinion charts.

The @FiveThirtyEight study that produced the chart below is not shown in full, broken down by variables such as ethnicity, education, state, etc.

Looking at the overall trend, it looks pretty bad.
2) The reason it is bad is that the percentage of Americans not favorable to impeach trump even after two disastrous years of impunity is higher than the percentage of his supporters/base.
3) How is this possible? Unfortunately, to answer this question a much better design survey instrument would have to be used (making it much more expensive, time consuming, etc).
4) All we have now is speculation. I speculate that:
- the majority of respondents doesn't have the instruments to dissect the information overdose about the subject
- an unknown segment absent of the trump support base up to now is weary of the options and not ...
5)
... actively supporting the opposition. That means they have no understanding of the danger to the world that the GOP mob represents. Since previous studies have shown the USA to be particularly parochial, this speculation is not unlikely (I have no clue how likely it is).
6)
- the sectarianism, hostility and non-negotiable divide that characterize the public conversation has trickled down to less engaged segments of society. The "fear of the other" is finally contaminating segments that were less intolerant up to now.
7) We'll see. It is not the weight of the evidence that will bring down the far-right. It is the pro-Civilization and anti-fascist stand becoming the absolute majority.
