Trump's "Muslim ban," of course, didn't really ban Muslims specifically because he couldn't have gotten that through the courts.
Instead, he banned people from some predominantly Muslim nations so he could tell his supporters he "banned Muslims," & courts it was about terrorism.

But he conspicuously left Saudi Arabia, the nation that produced 75% of the 9/11 terrorists, intact, while banning predominantly Muslim countries that never even had a citizen commit a terrorist act against the US. Saudi Arabia got a special exclusion.
Of course, the "Muslim ban" wasn't really about protecting the US from terrorism, as we know. It was a racist dog whistle to sate Trump's base after he promised a Muslim ban during the campaign.
