The solution to our current social networking / media problems is not replacing one company with another, but rather get back to what makes an effective commons and then build technology for people to create and participate in that commons.
A commons can function well, based on the Nobel prize winning economist Elinor Ostrom's 8 Principles for Managing A Commmons.
