For years, those of us who were there during the height of the war knew that senior officials were not telling the truth about the direction of the war. Our reporting most always contradicted the 'rosy' picture the military and Washington establishment portrayed of the battle in
Afghanistan. Many times reporters were criticized for the reporting - grateful @washingtonpost was able to obtain this slew of documents. Many soldiers died, many more live without limbs, TBI, PTSD, etc. Many civilians and journalists were also killed or injured. We should've
been told the truth. When the DC establishment/ Military apparatus holds back the truth there can never be a solution or resolution. It's a disgrace these administrations failed to deliver and hide the truth from the public.
