One must remember the Ayanavaram child rape case one year back. The child was physically challenged. It rocked the state. There were totally 18 accused. The city police never resorted to shortcut. Instead, it arrested all the accused. Ensured they never got bail.
A regular Mahila court handled the trial.

In spite of a total of 18 accused, with their defence counsels, the trial is completed and orders are reserved. The credit goes to Chennai Police Commissioner AK.Viswanathan & his team.
They quickly completed the investigation and an able prosecutor N.Ramesh, completed the trial in all earnestness.

AK.Viswanathan could have adopted an easier route – “fake encounter”. But he believed in law and fair trial.
Now orders stand reserved and let’s wait for the judgment. Shortcuts like ‘fake encounter’ should never find place in a democracy.
