Crypto is just as much a social revolution as it is a technological one.
A headwind we face is Main Street’s skepticism of finance and tech, and the tendency to provide new solutions to previously non-existent or seemingly esoteric problems.
Anecdotally, people feel there are enough glaring social problems (many created by finance and tech) that should be fixed before the “next big thing” is presented.
If crypto & DLT can show that it provides a technological & social solution to society’s biggest existing problems, societal headwinds will turn into tailwinds.
Some social problems that are top of mind for me include involving more people in capital accrual, widening shareholder governance to stakeholder governance, improving how we account for nature, and retaining privacy.
To be effective we need to be self aware. Conversations currently revolve too much around the tech & finance, partially due to the stage we’re in, but those components are hardly relatable. I’m guilty here.
As we move forward, we’ll need to migrate more to the social choices we’re making, relating the tech to problems society currently faces.
Recently, I’ve been striving as much as possible to communicate from the heart and through relatable things.

Listen to what people are struggling with, and then see if there are existing efforts in crypto to credibly fix that problem.
We will gain far more bodies if we align crypto with peoples’ hearts, as opposed to trying to convince them from the mind.
But to convince people from the heart, what you value and build towards has to be earnest and aligned.

Are you doing what you’re doing to get rich, or do you have a deeper purpose?
Technologies are built to serve society, not the other way around.
