Good evening!

Once again, I have compiled a thread of heartwarming/funny/lovely things I enjoyed throughout 2019. The news cycle can be unrelentingly bleak but here are some bits that prove it’s not all bad.

Let’s go! 💕
/ First of all, these two little buddies galloping down the street to greet each other.
/ This absolutely gorgeous story by @deisesupes of a young man in Waterford going above and beyond to help a 62-year-old man find a new job.
/ Lil Nas X showing up to an elementary school to perform Old Town Road and the kids losing their goddamn minds 🤠
/ "I love you Ma and I miss you."

This note from Bill to his late Ma in the Irish Times <3
/ This little kid was chasing Mo Salah’s car when he crashed into a lamppost and broke his nose. Salah noticed the calamity, stopped the car and posed for a photo while the kid and his dad waited for an ambulance to arrive. The photo makes me laugh so much.
/ We must not forget the impossibly wholesome ‘four generations’ meme from China. Too pure for this world.
/ Robin S. Crystal Waters. CeCe Peniston. Three queens. Take five minutes and watch the most joyful awards show musical performance of the year.
/ An RTE News reporter asks punters to comment on Leo Varadkar’s 40th birthday and the result is one of the funniest vox pops I have ever seen in my life.
/ Olive Woodward and Kathleen Woodward have been best pals for eighty years. When Kathleen moved into a retirement home, Olive missed her so much she decided to join her. The gals! bbc.com/news/uk-englan…
/ The moment same sex marriage became legal in Northern Ireland 🏳️‍🌈🌈💕
/ And when abortion was decriminalised in Northern Ireland thanks in no small part to the dogged work of activists there ✊#NorthIsNow
/ Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dancing in the halls of Congress💃
/ This lovely photo of Katie Bouman, the computer scientist who helped develop the algorithm that created the first ever photo of a black hole 🌌
/ Protesters in Lebanon singing Baby Shark to comfort a baby boy 🦈
/ GORILLAS POSING LIKE HUMANS. Need I say anymore? 🦍

/ WHY ARE YA ASKIN HER DAT?

Pretty much everything Maura Higgins said and did this year. But especially this.
/ Nora Horgan had not attended the St. Patrick’s Day parade for ten years due to her bad back. Her 9-year-old grandson William Kelleher saved his pocket money and booked a hotel room so she could watch the parade from a room with a view.
/ Selma Blair walking the red carpet with her fabulous cane months after announcing her multiple sclerosis diagnosis ❤️
/ I know we have likely all seen this video a million times by now but it never gets old. A gurgling baby has a full conversation with his Dad.
/ Gymnast Katelyn Ohashi absolutely slaying her final collegiate routine 🔥🔥🔥
/ Efrem Gidey fled Eritrea with this family in 2016 and spent six months in a Calais refugee camp before landing in Ireland. He's now one of our most promising athletes.

Here he is celebrating his Irish Schools Cross Country title with his pals:
/ This footage of an old Chilean couple cheering on protesters 🇨🇱
/ The word ‘iconic’ gets bandied around a lot but Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper performing Shallow at the Oscars was the very definition of iconic.
/ You might remember Thailand losing 13-0 to the USA in the World Cup. A few days later, they played Sweden and scored their first goal. On the sidelines, their general manager and chief benefactor Nualphan Lansam shed tears of joy.
/ This *perfect* interview with Shane Lowry's granny
/ This little doggy and his 'bath bomb' never fails to tickle me 🐶
/ Tinney Davidson spent years waving at schoolchildren who walked past her home. When they found out she was moving, they came to say goodbye 😭
/ Braima Suncar Dabó of Guinea-Bissau sacrificing his own race to help an exhausted Jonathan Busby of Aruba over the finish line in the 5000m heats at the World Athletics Championships ❤️
/ “You dropped your bottle.” Bless his cotton socks.
/ A little boy named Michael brought his entire kindergarten class to court to witness his adoption. Their little heads peering over! facebook.com/KentCountyMI/p…
