Lawyer vent: 9 weeks ago opposing counsel requested consent or said he'd file motion. Said no & motion is frivolous. Friday at 4:00 he noticed emergency hearing which I can't do for Monday 10:00 a.m b/c no trained caregiver available for DS. He's in court arguing must now.
2/ so tied to phone in event judge let's him go & allows me to do telephonically. Hard to get anything done!!!
whew. Judge said "no," tomorrow, which is when my motion for summary judgment is set--that I set 2 months ago--not two days ago!

Power went out last night b/f Santa made annual appearance, making it diff. for DS to see him clearly. This am he had several comments concerning Santa's magical appearance inside house while DH, DS, & I were sleeping: 1) If Santa teamed up with bad guys, they'd be unstoppable. 1
2/2 "wait, maybe he does...he steals other peoples presents....hums theme to X-Files.. 2) "Thanks for not ratting me out to Santa when he asked if I had been good.' Said in all sincerity. END.
Post Twit: Santa also gave me some grief by asking me if I still wanted that Joe Biden 2020 T-shirt! Told him he mixed me up with someone else.

THREAD: A close friend just sent me an IM (yes, we're old...although I'm much older!). She is extremely intelligence & conservative, but pretty much beyond the fray of politics, beyond social-issue politics. She's never cared about either "Russia collusion" or "SpyGate." 1/
2/ I can't remember her EVER asking me a question about either even though she knows I follow and write on it at length. And even though we often discuss other "breaking news" & my articles. So today, out of the blue she asked me a question about the IG report on FISA abuse.
3/ Several back-and-forths later, with details, follow-ups, etc., I said "out of curiosity, why the curiosity?" because I knew this wasn't her "thing."

In one of the most hilariously inept things I've read in awhile, a group of UNC System Board of Governors members publicly took responsibility for the #SilentSham settlement

And included several admissions that the whole thing was a fraud on the court! 😂

2 weeks ago i changed to work from home, but everyday when i got home & opened the door, my 2 1/2 y/o would shout “Daddy!” & sprint from wherever she was in the house to meet me in the hallway. whether or not i had time to drop my bag, sunglasses, keys, she’s up in my arms
where she gives me the biggest, longest, squeeziest hug. i come from a hugging family, so she’s learning right. she hugs with all of her love & it is the most glorious moment in every day. it lifts me no matter where i am, mentally.
her little arms contain so much strength when she hugs me. i like to think that’s because she knows this is where she is safe.

For the last 24 hours I've been texting & calling with refugees in Libya. 500 are apparently stuck in a Tripoli prison w/o food & water after heavy fighting broke out two days ago. They say their guards ran away, leaving them alone.
These refugees are men, women & children. They tried to cross the Mediterranean earlier this year, but were found by Italian boats, who turned them over to the EU-backed Libyan coastguard, who put them in prison. The conditions were already terrible before the fighting started.
Oh the phone earlier I could hear children crying & what sounded like bombing in the distance. The refugees say everyone's incredibly frightened. "We hear machine guns, tanks, big bombs, last night from the roof it was all fire."
