But before imposing her sentence, Judge Jackson went through a long list of Mr. Gates’s misdeeds, including a years-long effort to hide money from US tax authorities and mislead Congress and the media about who was funding a Washington campaign in support of his Ukraine clients.
Judge Jackson said, “Those are facts. Not alleged facts, alternative facts....they are established by the bank records themselves,” later adding: “Politics don’t corrupt people, people corrupt politics.”
