Ursula von der Leyen says Brexit timetable "extremely challenging" and "we will face a cliff edge situation" if no deal by 2020.

She said no deal "will harm the UK more than us" as the EU will continue to benefit from single market, customs union and 700+ intl agreements.
Von der Leyen: "The United Kingdom indeed will become a third country, but at the very end, I hope that we will have an unprecedented partnership. This is not the end of something, It is the beginning of new relations."
Speaking in European parliament in Strasbourg, Von der Leyen also pays tribute to "very brave remain MEPs - I can only say we will miss you". Some applause. She adds: "We will never miss those who scream and yell." Cue moderate heckling.
