People want heroes. I get that.
People want someone to take on the bad guys. I get that too.
But when that urge makes them fawn over crumbs from the establishment, they are playing right into the hands of a system designed to oppress them...

What is our job as citizens?
Among other things, it is to pressure our representatives to do their job. It's not to shower them with praise for the bare minimum of doing their duty.
We must PUSH, PUSH, PUSH for justice and equality.

It feels better to assume the powers-that-be will solve our problems.
They won't.
The status quo enriches/empowers them. They won't move outside the margins. They won't shake it up to the point where their power is threatened.
We have to pressure them out of the comfort zone.
