so apparently tories outright rigged the election by offering peerages to senior figures of their main right-wing opposition, the brexit party, so they would stand down and help them get votes in leave constituencies in the north, both of which happened

lmao just look at all the people here saying they were outright bribed by the tories, including farage. why the fuck was this not a bigger story, and what happened with the investigation? I can't find any info on it, so I assume it's ongoing??

holy shit this goes beyond watergate and I only found about it now, and the only articles about it are from november 15/16 when the investigation was started. it was then memory-holed for the rest of the election. LMAO can you imagine if labour had bribed lib dems to stand down?

chomsky presciently explains the conditions that led to the rise of a resurgent fascism across the world over the past decade, most recently in the UK election, and the role played therein by far right and alt-centrist media propaganda

this is from 2009, shortly after the economic crisis which alt-centrists treated as a minor aberration from the norm, shifting the costs to the working class while shielding the elites (which include themselves) from criticism and responsibility. They sowed the seeds for all this
key phrase from what chomsky says: "they're not hearing anything else" but the alt-right propaganda, boosted by alt-centrist media like the BBC, which acted like the public relations arm of the tories

here's a quick What Is To Be Done? for the UK left, from a humble twitter squirrel: stay in labour or join it if you haven't already to ensure that the left keeps control of the party leadership. even if you can't actively organize for it, just being a member gives you a vote
there's going to be an alt-centrist onslaught against the left now as they try to recapture the party and turn it into a neoliberal PR machine once more, and shift its policies to be "racism + whatever Murdoch wants". that has to be stopped at all cost
be prepared for a barrage of immigrant and muslim bashing. of course, this is the kind of racism that the media and pundit class, the core constituency of alt-centrists, absolutely love and will help boost, namely actual racism rather than a fabricated smear campaign

if corbyn supporters go out on the streets for weeks, start attacking random people, smashing windows, threatening families of tory MPs, then force boris johnson to call another election before running him off with military support, will this be called a democratic transition?
will the New York Times, Guardian, New Statesman, and every other mainstream alt-centrist rag talk about how boris johnson rigged the election, the media was corrupt, there was foreign interference, and manufacture consent for this "democratic" transition government?
and will the US immediately recognize this government, giving full backing to it? Or is that just the playbook when it's a country filled w people they deem to be sub-human & the elections are actually fair but the right-wing lies about it being rigged, like bolivia? I suspect so

1) Corbyn = #Brexit = NHS sell off
Difficult to understand attitude of remaining Corbyn supporters as being any more than a cult of personality in the same vein as Farage (only less successful currently)
Corbyn supports Brexit, and Brexit means the dismantling of the #NHS
2) Whatever Corbyn says, or his supporters believe, there is no Labour #Brexit, or Jobs first Brexit, or "protect the NHS" Brexit, there's just Brexit - and a weakening of the UK's protections and institutions which will undermine the NHS and worker protections
3) it's well documented that there is no love for the NHS, or worker protections, in the right wing of the Tory party and Faragists. Its also well documented that the NHS is disliked by many US interests because its powerful enough to set drug prices
