Checked Kannada dictionary - Chitra Mandira is the term for a movie house!

You cannot use the pristine term "Mandir" to describe a movie house - which is anything but pristine!

If movie house is a "Chitra Mandira", then what about movie stars? Are they deities?

An alternative I suggest is - "Chitra Bhavana"

Mandira in sanskrit merely means "place/abode". Not necessarily always a temple
But in modern Hindi / Prakrit languages, Mandira is the term for "temple".
So it's problematic to use it in a secular context
