Everyone knows about August 15, 2016 because it is the date of Strzok’s infamous “insurance policy” text. But what else do we know about that day?

According to the FISA IG Report (p. 68), James Comey says August 15 was the date he received his first formal briefing by the Crossfire Hurricane team. Sure, McCabe says Comey knew about CH before the case was opened, but this is his first briefing.

3/ August 15, 2016

The Crossfire Hurricane team (likely Strzok) enlists the help of the FBI Office of General Counsel (OGC) to get a FISA warrant on Carter Page. Ultimately, DOJ National Security Division and FBI OGC decide more evidence is needed. (FISA IG Report p. 4)

Hey! Bruce Ohr just happens to contact Peter Strzok on this day! This is a couple of weeks after Ohr received Steele’s dirt at a breakfast meeting with his wife.

5/ I suppose it’s possible that all these contacts describe a single meeting where:

>> Ohr attends a meeting with Strzok and the Crossfire Hurricane team to brief Comey on the case. It is decided to pursue a FISA warrant on Page <<

We don’t know that for a fact, though.

6/ Without a doubt, seeking a FISA warrant on Carter Page is a significant expansion of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. I’m guessing a broadly expanded CH investigation is precisely what concerned Lisa Page, leading to Strzok’s “Insurance Policy” text.

7/7 Check this out, though. On the very same day – August 15, 2016 – the Hillary Clinton campaign blasts out an email highlighting all the suspicious Russian contacts of Carter Page. Sheer coincidence, I’m sure.
