#TheTrialOfAgbaJalingo shows how the persecution of #FreeSpeech in #Nigeria is a multi-agency, bipartisan, #jointenterprise between federal & state actors that does not lend itself to narrow party political posturing of the sort folks enjoy here.... Image
Clearly, everything suggests the instigator in #TheTrialOfAgbaJalingo is Cross-River State's @ben_ayade. He wields undue control over the mechanisms of administration of justice located in the state, both state & federal, including the courts & the police. Image
When the scheme was devised against #AgbaJalingo, it emerges there were 2 difficulties:

1. The professional law officers in the Cross-River State Ministry of Justice appeared unable to see any evidence to support a case.

2. The then State Chief Judge, Edem, was independent. Image
So, when the state institutions in Cross-River proved not too amenable to subornation, it seemed easier to procure the federal ones to do the job. A partnership appears to have bn hatched between the Governor, a @PoliceNG prosecutor & a federal judicial officer. Image
For a #ShowTrial orchestrated by Cross-River State, the charges are federal crimes, by a federal prosecutor, before a Federal Judge. It's either the federal institutions are willfully involved or they agreed to be suborned. Either way, they're complicit in #TheTrialOfAgbaJalingo Image
It is of course the case that Cross-River State's @ben_ayade is of the @OfficialPDPNig while federal institutions are under the control of @OfficialAPCNg. That they are clearly collaborating in #TheTrialOfAgbaJalingo shows both parties have a common project to clobber #FreeSpeech Image
This is the partnership, aided by a willing judicial officer, which has ensured that #AgbaJalingo will enter 2020 in detention for a crime he didn't commit because it doesn't exist. It is the weaponisation of the law by loathesome #lowlives in otherwise high offices of state. Image
Cross-River State's new Commissioner for Information, Asu Okang, claims @ben_ayade has no hand in #TheTrialOfAgbaJalingo. The Association of Cross-River Online Journalists, #ACROJ, has answered him. ImageImage
@ben_ayade At the ongoing #CalabarCarnival, ordinary #Nigerians are making the point that #JalingoIsInnocent & asking @ben_ayade to #EndTheInjustice & stop persecuting #FreeSpeech ImageImageImageImage
