A year ago, my previous startup didn't grow as I wanted it to be.

I was down and didn't know what's next.

But this year turned out great.

Joined Userpilot as a Head of Growth, grew the business 40% MoM consistently, and made it profitable.

Few lessons I learned on my way 👇

1/ Stay focused, we had an opportunity to expand into employee onboarding. We didn't go that way. Staying focused helped us achieve explosive growth in one market.

2/ Start blogging related to your topic, specialty, personas, and category. It will give you SEO credibility and keep building links to those high intent topics.

3/Since SEO takes time, take advantage of the existing social media.

4/ Keep building relationships. Reach out to learn than sell.

5/ It's okay to talk about your competitors to your prospects on demo call and publically.

6/ Control your funnel at least in the beginning when you don't know where to start.

7/ Every new customer is a learning opportunity. Once someone subscribes -- do ask them: what made you choose us? Why? Do you love our app? If not, why? It gives you tons of opportunity to learn someone who made this decision.

8/Learn from everyone and consume content too. You get ideas. I learned from podcasts, blogs, books, webinars, and tweets. Willing to learn from experts made it work. I just took inspiration and made my creative juices get going.

9/You can't be great at everything, so let things go which you are not great at. Double down what you're good at.

10/ Double down what's working and exhaust that thing before moving to next.

That's my learning from this year. I grew professionally and achieved things that I wanted to.
