The @DeptJusticeIRL proposed that NGO organisations nominate two persons to the #DayCommission #DirectProvision
The initial terms of reference as proposed for the #DayCommission on #directprovision did include mention of "how to manage the involvement of local communities" (on 02/10/19). This does not appear in 23/10 Terms of Ref (2nd pic)
There were some additional NGOS informed of the estb of the #DayCommission on #directprovision in late Sept '19
A meeting occured on 04/10/19 with some NGO reps regarding the composition (? But not clear from documentation) of the #DayCommission on #DirectProvision
Edel from @MigrantRightsIr expressed concerns on 08/10/19 at lack of asylum seeker & refugee consultation/ participation in the #DayCommission
Fiona @NascIreland also expressed concerns regarding lack of protection seeker input into the #DayCommission
Dr David Costello @DeptJusticeIRL initially indicated that there would not be scope for expanding protection seeker representation with the #DayCommission, however subsequent discussions did occur in @DeptJusticeIRL on this issue
On 16/10/19 Eugene @JRSEurope expressed concerns surrounding @DeptJusticeIRL planned NGO involvement with the #DayCommission & recommended Justice choose both NGOs rather than letting NGOs choose between themselves
On 16/10/2019 @DeptJusticeIRL emailed @masi_asylum apologising for not initially including them within NGO list and noting that they were part of NGO group who could decide on 2 NGO reps
The final document (from 18/10/2019) confirmed that Fiona @NascIreland would be the initial NGO rep for the first meeting of the #DayCommission
I don't (yet) have documentation between end of Oct and now. However as reported in media, the composition of the #DayCommission has now been determined thejournal.ie/expert-group-d… #directprovision
The terms of reference not yet available on @DeptJusticeIRL website (it is 2nd of Jan so people are on leave), however this is what the terms of reference of #DayCommission seem to be.
However, some concerns that Justice seemed to only mention engagment with local communities when speaking to press. This does not appear within the ToR for #DayCommission #DirectProvision
It is also not clear from the documentation (as I hadn't asked at that stage) what the relationship is between the #DayCommission Advisory Group & the Inter-Departmental Group on #DirectProvision chaired by @DeptJusticeIRL
