Recently, @DSlakoffPhD tweeted that she wanted to read more. I assumed her request was less on scholarly books and more on "how to academia/how to write/how to manage projects" books, so in the spirit of #2020Goals, here are a few suggestions I can give.
Before I start writing this list, here are the rules of engagement:

1). This is my list. I do not accept anybody telling me "you should add X book to your list'. You can make your own recommendations.

2). I purchased each and every one of these books (with maybe 2 exceptions)
3). I may (and actually do) like many of the books' authors, but I don't owe them anything (as I don't owe anyone anything, to be 100% honest). So, I'm suggesting that you read them not because I get any financial kickback or anything of that sort, I just liked reading them.
On to the list.

1). On academic writing.

The Clockwork Muse is a MUST READ raulpacheco.org/2018/08/the-cl… Dr. Eviatar Zerubavel wrote THE book for students, faculty, post-docs, and anybody who needs to consistently write. Yes, perhaps the best book written on this genre.
2). On producing journal articles

The 2nd edition of #12WeeksArticle by @WendyLBelcher is an absolute must read (my post on the 1st edition) raulpacheco.org/2018/01/writin…

pair this with @thomsonpat and Kamler's "Writing for Peer Reviewed Journals" raulpacheco.org/2018/08/writin…
3). On developing a writing practice

Obviously, @jolijensen's "Write No Matter What" raulpacheco.org/2018/03/write-…

If you are in need of RIGOROUS structure, @biblioracle 's "The Writer's Practice" is, in my view, THE bible of developing a writing practice.

ALSO...
Developing rigorous practices for academic writers is what Patricia Goodson does. raulpacheco.org/2017/07/becomi…

4). On writing books

To revise doctoral dissertations, AND to teach how to write a dissertation-as-a-book, @WmGermano raulpacheco.org/2018/04/from-d…
To write non-fiction, but academic-y books, both Germano's Getting It Published raulpacheco.org/2018/04/gettin… and Rabiner and Fortunato's Thinking Like Your Editor raulpacheco.org/2018/04/thinki… are excellent.
5). On getting words on paper:

Paul Silvia's How to Write a Lot raulpacheco.org/2017/08/how-to… will help you, as his book says, WRITE A LOT. Not that those words will be any quality, but at least you'll be getting words out.
6). On refining your academic writing.

Helen Sword's Stylish Academic Writing is her best book raulpacheco.org/2017/08/stylis… (and to be frank, the only one of hers that I like).
William Zinsser is SPECTACULAR and if you need to read ONE book on "writing as an art, science, and love of the words", that's his "On Writing Well" raulpacheco.org/2017/08/on-wri…
7). On writing, as a craft

I used to hate memoir-type writing books (I still very much do), but Henry Miller's On Writing raulpacheco.org/2019/08/henry-… and Stephen King's On Writing raulpacheco.org/2018/05/on-wri… are excellent

I believe this selection should get people started. </fin>

I have pretty much written about almost every question that the academic Twitterverse asks me, and not surprisingly, here's one answer to @dslakoffphd question in blog post form.
